Hedgehogs have a distinct odor due to the presence of scent glands on their bodies. These glands release a musky smell that helps hedgehogs mark their territory and communicate with other hedgehogs. The odor can also serve as a defense mechanism against predators, as the strong smell may deter them from attacking. Overall, the unique scent of hedgehogs is a natural part of their biology and behavior. **
